Community gathers to support the First Witness Child Advocacy Center

Folks got out to support First Witness for their annual Spring Splash fundraising event on Thursday April10th.

At the Spring Splash event at Clyde Ironworks people had the chance to participate in a silent auction and other games to help fundraise for First Witness.

First Witness is a child advocacy center that provides services like forensic interviews for children who have experienced abuse, child advocacy and prevention education.

“We’re super lucky here at First Witness because we have so much community support,” said Megan Prouty a senior forensic interviewer for First Witness. “It’s a huge part of what we do. We can’t single-handedly end child abuse. We need that community support”

They told us that awareness is a vital part of what they do.

“I think it’s important to know that there is abuse in our communities. I think people don’t want to think about that,” said Prouty. “It can be really helpful to just know what’s going on in your community and to be able to support the kids in your life so that if something happens to them, they’re able to teach their kids what to do to be safe.”
