Two Harbors police provided an update about the driver who was injured after her truck was hit by a rock.
Kay Spielman, 46, has died from her injuries. She was an organ donor, and that process began on Tuesday afternoon.
Chief Richard Hogenson said they do not believe anyone threw the rock, and therefore do not believe there is a threat to public safety.
The call came in around 2pm on Friday, that a woman driving south on 61 near Two Harbors needed medical help.
When officers arrived, they found a group of citizens trying to render aid to Spielman. “A real, true example of people trying to help others in need.”
She was first taken to Lake View Hospital, and then a hospital in Duluth, before passing away from her injuries.
Hogenson added, “I learned she was a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a very caring and giving person. I would ask that if you have the chance, remember to do something good for others every chance you get.”
Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened. If you have any information about that Friday afternoon, please call them at 218-834-5566.
