Crews put out fire on South Blackman Avenue in Duluth
Crews put out a basement fire on S Blackman Avenue in Duluth Friday morning.
The fire department was called out just after 10 a.m. They found a one-story home with fire in the basement. Due to structural conditions of the house, firefighters reported they had to take a defensive strategy. The fire spread from the basement to the first floor and the attic.
No injuries were reported, but a car drove over a hydrant line while firefighters were working to put it out.
“It is illegal and extremely dangerous to drive over active hydrant lines. Damage to active lines makes an already difficult firefighting scene more difficult, and can put firefighters in danger,” the City of Duluth said.
They ask drivers to detour around the area when firefighters are on a scene.
