Crews extinguish structure fire on Main Street in Biwabik
Multiple crews remain on scene after extinguishing a fire at 202 Main Street in Biwabik.
Early details were provided by City Administrator Jeff Jacobson, who told WDIO that the fire was at the “Alpine Bar” building. Jacobson said the building is also is a short-term rental property.
The Biwabik Fire Department was called in around 10:00 a.m. Two blocks of Main Street were blocked off as over half a dozen fire stations worked to put out the fire.
According to Biwabik Fire Chief Dan Mackey on scene, no one was inside the building when the fire started. Officials say the fire started on the main level, but the cause remains under investigation.
