Damiano Center helping others for 42 years
Most of us have become accustomed to having a home to keep us warm and food to keep us fed. But there are those in our community who don’t have even their basic needs met.
Thursday night the Damiano Center held an event to address that. For decades, the Damiano Center has helped provide vital services to the Duluth community. Folks attended a fundraiser Thursday and learned that food costs for Damiano have more than doubled over the last 2 years. That’s partly why Damiano’s associate director, Christopher Paris says events like this one are so critical.
“The Domiano provides crucial services to so many people. Obviously, the Kids’ Kitchen, who we’re here tonight to honor and program and fund. And then we also just have all of our other programming that helps supply food, clothes, basic needs items to the general community. Wonderful to have a space that they can come in to be treated with dignity, be treated as a human being and just get the things they need.”
The Damiano Center remains the largest onsite meal provider in northeast Minnesota and are celebrating 42 years of serving the community.
