Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrated across the Twin Ports
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday but over at The Pilgrim Congregational Church of Duluth, they celebrated a day early. They hosted their 2024 MLK Worship service on Sunday.
The church partnered with the Duluth branch of the NAACP to host the event in hopes of shedding light on historic and current civil rights issues as well as to remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the progress he made in the Civil Rights Movement.
There are a few other MLK day events happening around the Twin Ports area.
There is a breakfast happening from 7 – 9:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Starting at 10:30 a.m. there will be a march starting at the Family Freedom Center. There will also be a rally at the DECC starting at 12:30 p.m. Head to the Duluth NAACP website for more information on events happening on Monday.
On Tuesday, the City of Superior Mayor’s Commission on Communities of Color along with the Superior Public Library will hold a Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration at the Superior Public Library, 1530 Tower Ave. in Superior at 3:00 p.m. There will be a speaker, BIPOC Art & Poetry, story reading for children and other activities.
