MNDOT has announced that the Duluth bound lane that crosses over the Blatnik Bridge will close starting October 30th.
The closure will be in place for 1 weeks. Drivers can still drive over to Superior, however when driving back to Duluth you’ll have to take the Bong Bridge.
This closure is a part of the Twin Ports Interchange Project. and when it is finished it will reopen to single lane access for those driving to Duluth.
This closure is definitely set to impact businesses. Jeff Foster Trucking has been solely traveling on the Bong Bridge ever since the interchange project started.
Even though they deliver to businesses on Garfield Avenue or Railroad Street the trucking company says they been trying to find the best route for their trucks for take with the least amount of traffic.
“Planning is a big part of this,” says Brian Foster, “So we try to inform as traffic impacts change, and give them the least impacted route. [It] keeps them out of harm but it definitely adds time.”
Brian says to plan ahead for these changes and give yourself extra time when planning to come over to Duluth.
