High school graduation comes but once, but it’s the memories you make that last a lifetime. For many, those class reunions take you back in time.
“Well, it’s exciting; it really is! A lot of people didn’t use to come here, and some couldn’t be here. I get tears just thinking about it,” said 1953 graduate Corrie Helman.
Duluth Central’s Class of 1953 came together once again on Wednesday at Blackwoods Lounge in Duluth to celebrate their 70th reunion.
“Up until this year, many of our classmates are gone. So, this is really maybe our last one. So, it’s kind of a milestone,” Bobbie Bushey shared.
The gathering showcased so many emotions, laughs, smiles, tears, and reflections of the last seven decades of high school with the moment of looking back on memories made then & since graduation.
Bushey reflected on one moment that occurred not too long ago. “Last year, we had a table out here with two guys sitting at one and three guys sitting at another table, and they all gone. One year ago. So, there’s a lot of sadness, but a lot of gladness too.”
For the members of this class, it was like they could feel like they were back where it all started when looking at everyone who attended the reunion. There will only be one Duluth Central High School Class of 1953. “I can honestly say I could just see all of them walking down the hall of old central, it’s a great feeling!!”
