Duluth East advances to the Section 7AA championship

The MSHSL Boys’ Hockey Section 7AA Semifinals got underway on Saturday at Amsoil Arena in Duluth with the first game at 11 a.m.. #5 Coon Rapids Cardinals vs. #1 Duluth East Greyhounds took to the ice. The games were streamed online at WDIO.com/liveplus.
Coon Rapids got on the board first with a goal from Junior Tyler Barsness at 10:59 in the first period. Barsness was assisted on a pass from Eli Boden and Nate Klinsing. Barnsess is one point away from breaking the program career points record at Coon Rapids.
Kole Kronstedt is in the net for the Greyhounds and Will Wagner for the Cardinals.
The first period ends with a score of 1-0 Coon Rapids. Shots on goal in the first, Duluth East 13, Coon Rapids 7.

Duluth East came back in the second period with a goal at 12:49 remaining from Senior Makoto Sudoh with assists to Cole Christian and Wyatt Peterson. Roughly 3 minutes later Senior Boden Donovan scored on an assist from Noah Teng and Caden Cole. Score after 2 – Coon Rapids 1 – Duluth East 2.
The Greyhounds put two more on the board in the third period from Senior Noah Teng at 13:56 from an assist from Christian and Grady Downs. Sophomore Caden Cole scored with 11:58 remaining in the third period with an assist from Sudoh and Henry Murray.
Duluth East is Section 7AA championship bound for the first time since winning it in 2018-19.
