After a record breaking winter, many local farmers are getting their fresh produce out to the public as market season is now in full swing at the Duluth farmers market.
There is about everything you need from starters, to vegetables, honey, meat, eggs and even baked goods.
The market is open Saturdays 8:00AM – 12:00PM and Wednesdays 2:00PM – 5:00PM at the corner of 14th avenue east and 3rd street.
We spoke to the market manager Amy Roper about the unique role this market play in boosting the local economy as all produce are grown in the community.
“All of our farmers live within 100 miles or less radius, so everyone’s very local and they work really hard. It was a hard winter, but everybody made it through and we’re really excited to be here again.”
She also added that for people that benefit from snap, they have a matching program where they can get up to 20 dollars for the first 10 dollars they spend. Saying this will be a great way to stretch money on healthy fresh produce.
