Duluth Library Foundation celebrates Library Giving Day
The Duluth Library foundation teamed up with Hoops Brewing for the fifth annual Library Giving Day. It is a national event that calls on local communities to celebrate the importance of public libraries while raising funds to support library programs and services that many in the community reply on. The library’s goal was to raise $60,000 by midnight Wednesday. Officials from the event said a local philanthropist would match donations up to $25,000.
The free event featured games, prizes, story time food and drinks for all community members to enjoy. Guests were also able to enjoy a reading with local author Chris Monroe.
“A donation to Duluth Public Libraries is an investment in our community,” said Dave Hoops, owner of Hoops Brewing. “We see many of our customers enjoying a pint with a good book, and I can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon! With our similar goal of bringing people together, Hoops Brewing is proud to support our local libraries.”
