Duluth man charged with 2nd Degree Assault in stabbing incident Sunday

A 24-year-old Duluth man has been charged with 2nd Degree Assault following a stabbing over the weekend. According to the authorities, Michael Connor Cordel Huisinger turned himself into police. Huisinger was charged Tuesday.

Authorities responded to a report of a stabbing at approximately 2:56 a.m. in the 1100 block of W Michigan Avenue. When they arrived they located a 35-year-old woman with a stab wound in the upper arm. The report says the victim was frantic and unable to provide officers with much detail, saying she had been stabbed while she was performing “rituals.”

The victim was later transported to a local hospital for treatment for two stab wounds in the arm.

According to the criminal complaint, a witness who lived nearby told officers that she heard arguing coming from the M&H gas station. The witness told police that she saw two people approach the alleged victim, “being aggressive and argumentative.” The witness then said that the victim began screaming and running across the road.

Huisinger turned himself into authorities just before 6 a.m. on Sunday. He told authorities that he and an ex-girlfriend were walking on Michigan Street when they sat down and had a loud argument. Huisinger told authorities the victim approached them holding a long tree branch and pointing at him and his ex-girlfriend.

Huisinger told officers the victim swung the stick at him. The complaint says Huisinger hung onto the tree branch while grabbing a knife from a sheath on his hip. He told officers that he stabbed the victim in the arm.

Police did recover a knife at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation
