Duluth man injured after UTV rollover Wednesday evening

A Duluth man is recovering in the hospital with severe injuries to his hand after his UTV rolled over late Wednesday evening.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s office responded the area of Cotton at around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Authorities say the Duluth man was transported by a personal vehicle to the Speedway gas station on Comstock Lake Road, where he was treated by Cotton Fire, Meadowlands Ambulance and the St. Louis County Rescue Squad. He was later airlifted to Essentia Health in Duluth by North Memorial Air Care. The driver was in a stable condition and conscious during that time.

Authorities believe alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash, and instead believe speed was likely a contributing factor.

The crash is under further investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
