Duluth Pack purchased by new ownership

Duluth Pack has announced that the over-century old business has been purchased by Kevin Hall and another business partner effective immediately. A release from Duluth Pack said the two new owners plan to carry on the tradition and core values of the company.

“Hall and partner are experienced businessmen with deep ties to Minnesota including being long-time Duluth Pack customers,” stated the release. “The pair cares deeply about the brand’s future, its customers, its hardworking employees, and the Duluth community.”

While no specifics have been released at this time, the team at Duluth Pack said people should be expecting new faces, new products, and changes to the brand’s look and messaging.

“We’re making Duluth Pack something for everybody and we really, again, are excited about that and see a wonderful future here forward,” said new owner, Kevin Hall. “If Duluth Pack has meant something to you in the past, these changes are for you. We invite you to come down to the store, meet the people, see the changes as we make the Duluth Pack experience something for everybody.”

Grant DeMars the general manager of Duluth Pack in Canal Park, said the sale took several months. The previous CEO, Tom Sega worked with the new owners when Duluth Pack was purchased to make it a smooth transition in leadership for both employees and customers.

“Our new owners are really excited about the Duluth Pack brand. They’ve been long-time customers. They love Duluth Pack, the outdoors. So, they were really excited to get involved,” DeMars said. “They really care about the activities and participate in a lot of the outdoor activities that our customers participate in. So we’re really excited to help connect our customers to the brand and to the outdoors, to quality products, to Made in America products all across the board.”

One of the new changes is remodeling the Duluth Pack at the Canal Park location. All of the items for sale can be found on the main floor of the building.

“Things are a little bit different around our retail store here. We’ve kind of shuffled things around. Kind of like a light remodel, we’re going to change up some of our messaging and our imagery,” DeMars said. “We’ve got a whole bunch of customers who are interested in a variety of things from our core values and quality of premium product made in the USA.”

Duluth Pack was founded in 1882 and is known for their handcrafted backpacks, bags, and more.

The store is located at 365 Canal Park Drive.
