Updated: Victim identified in Duluth hit-and-run
The Duluth Police Department says they have found the vehicle and driver allegedly involved in a hit-and-run Wednesday morning. They identified the suspect as a 77-year-old Duluth woman.
The DPD had asked for the public’s help locating a 2017 Kia Sportage.
At approximately 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to the area of West 5th Street and Highway 23 for a report of a woman hit by a vehicle.
When authorities arrived, they found a 68-year-old woman being tended to by people on the scene. The woman was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was identified as Nancy Waters, a Duluth resident.
As of Thursday, the woman remains hospitalized. Police say her condition is “stable.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her, her family, and her friends,” a press release said.
The investigation is still active. The matter will be forwarded to the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office.
