UPDATE: Morgan Park neighborhood incident ends in tragedy

LATEST UPDATE: As of Wednesday afternoon, the Duluth Police department have provided an update on Tuesday evening’s incident in the Morgan Park neighborhood of Duluth.
Police report that they responded to a report from a male that he was shot at by a female known to him. The male fled the scene and called 911. The Tactical Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Team responded to the scene and tried to make contact with the female involved individual.
“After hours of attempting to make contact with members of the tactical response team made entry into the residence. That’s when we located an individual with what appears to be self-inflicted gunshot wounds,” said Public Information Officer Mattie Hjelseth. “That individual is deceased. The name of the individual will not be out until next of kin is notified.”
No other injuries have been reported.
This is an ongoing investigation and WDIO will share more information as it becomes available.
ORIGINAL: Duluth Police are on scene of an incident in the Morgan Park neighborhood of Duluth. According to an eyewitness, there are multiple police cars and officers at the intersection of 86th Avenue West and Edward Street at approximately 4:30 p.m.
According to a Facebook post from Duluth Police, this is a very active scene. Officers are on scene in the 1000 block of 86th Ave W for the report of a person with a gun. They are attempting to make contact with the individual. Authorities say this is an isolated incident.
Our crew on scene says 86th Avenue West is blocked between Edward Street and Concord Street. The public should stay away from the area until the situation is resolved.
Photos shared with WDIO, shows officers crouched down behind a vehicle. One officer had his gun drawn.
Police say there are no injuries at this time.
