Duluth XC Ski Club celebrates installation of 42 new lights
Duluth Cross-Country Ski Club held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday at Grand Avenue Nordic Chalet to celebrate new lights.
The “Ski the Lights” event celebrated the community’s commitment to having a high-quality cross-country ski facility in Duluth and thanked all contributors who put in time, donations, and other efforts toward this vision.
The 42 new lights were recently installed as part of a capital campaign project by Duluth XC Ski Club. The project is a joint effort between Duluth XC Ski Club, Spirit Mountain, and the City of Duluth to bring a world-class Nordic ski venue into the community. The Spirit Mountain Nordic Center (formerly Grand Avenue Nordic Center) is now in its final stage of development.
Plans for the final stage include a new 5 km cross-country ski trail, a connector trail linking the new trail to the 22 km of existing trail, a full-service chalet at the trailhead, and expert grooming.
There will be more celebratory events in the future to thank the past contributors during Tour Duluth Week later this spring. More details about the project, including a timeline, can be found at this link.
