Emergency management from St. Louis County lending a helping hand after Helene

St. Louis County emergency management helping after Helene

Emergency management from St. Louis County is helping in North Carolina after Hurricane Helene.

Two men from the St. Louis County’s Sheriff’s Emergency Management Division are in the thick of recovery efforts in North Carolina.

This is after Hurricane Helene swept through.

Josh Brinkman and Alex Jaye have been working with teams from both Louisiana and Texas.

“We’ve taken on the role of fire department liaison, meeting with them each morning to see what they need. And sometimes it’s just stopping at people’s houses. They might need ice, or insulin,” explained Brinkman, the Emergency Management Coordinator.

Jaye added, “These are some of the strongest people we’ve met.”

They are going to take what they’re learning out there, and bring it back to St. Louis County. And they used some of what we learned during the summer flooding in the Northland.

St. Louis County is being reimbursed for the men’s help.

And get this, they’re using tents to sleep down there. “We’re showing them the Minnesota way.” Others are using trailers.
