Opening up the 103 year old time capsule from Franklin Elementary

An exciting moment for the Eveleth Heritage Society as they open up a 103 year old time capsule.

A time capsule meant a walk down memory lane from 103 years ago.

Folks from the Eveleth Heritage Society opened up the capsule on Friday. It had been buried in the one of the cornerstones at the Franklin Elementary, when it was being built.

Inside, some coins, newspapers, and Masonic lodge items. The Masons helped build the school, back in 1921.

Craig ‘Figgy’ Ritacco, shared, “For me, trying to keep our history preserved in town is part of what we do. Whatever was put inside, it meant something to the people at the time.”

They opened the capsule at the Rock Ridge administration offices.
