Expect lane closures at Twin Ports Interchange on Thursday

On Thursday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) would like drivers to be aware of what they call “mobile short duration lane closures” on I-35. Motorist should pay attention to changing lane closures and check the MnDOT website for additional information.

MnDOT says it will close to single lanes on northbound I-35 between 27th Avenue West and Garfield Avenue between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday, May 23. Remember to use the zipper merge when nearing the single lane area.

Additional closures are anticipated in the Twin Ports Interchange project area in the coming weeks.

What is the Zipper Merge? Form two lanes of traffic and take turns at the merge sign. Both lanes should be used until the merge point. MnDOT says to resist the urge to merge early and remember to take turns merging into one lane.
