Woman killed in ATV accident on Saturday

Saturday evening, first responders and law enforcement were dispatched to the report of a fatal ATV crash.

A 37-year-old female had been struck in the chest by a tree branch, while riding as a passenger in a side-by-side type of an ATV.

The incident took place on an ATV trail located south of Hibbing.  

The female was transported by ambulance to Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing where she was later pronounced deceased.

There was no indication of alcohol use nor excessive speed.

The accident remains under investigation by the St Louis County Sheriffs Office.
