Fatal car accident reported in Biwabik Township

According to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol, a 61-year-old female driver from Virginia, Minnesota was killed in an accident in Biwabik Township. The accident occurred at Highway 135 near Maple Drive at 4:52 P.M on Wednesday November 8th.

31-year-old Haylee Lynn Honkanen was driving a Ford F-150 going northbound when a 2001 Toyota Corolla traveling southbound crossed the center line and collided with the truck.

The name of the victim was not immediately released.

A Subaru Impreza was not directly involved but had damage reported due to the debris from the collision.

Biwabik, Gilbert, East Range Police Departments alongside Lakeland, Hoyt Lakes Ambulance and the St. louis County Rescue Squad all responded to the scene.
