Fire damages home in Industrial Township, no injuries
Fire fighters were called to a structure fire near Saginaw on Thursday morning. According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s office, at 9:48 a.m., passerby’s called 911 to report they could see smoke and flames coming from a residence in the 5400 block of Highway 33 in Instustrial Township.
Local area responders arrived and were able to quickly knock down the fire. Officials say the fire damage was contained to mostly one room, however the rest of the home suffered severe smoke and water damage. No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.
The residents were referred to the Red Cross for assistance.
The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to the scene for a fire investigation. Responding agencies included the Industrial, Grand Lake, Cloquet, Solway, and Air National Guard Fire Departments. The St. Louis County Rescue squad also assisted at the fire scene.
