First cruise ship of the season has arrived

The first cruise ship of the season sailed into the Twin Ports, coming through the Aerial Lift Bridge around 4:20 Thursday morning.

The Viking passenger cruise ship, Octantis is dropping off approximately 400 people and also picking up 400 others in what’s called a turn-around stop.

These stops are a boon to the Twin Ports economy as folks use the Duluth airport or stay in local hotels.

The Octantis was scheduled to depart around 7:00 Thursday evening with her next stop on this Great Lakes cruise being Thunder Bay.

14-ships are scheduled to sail into the Twin Ports this season.
