Four children injured in Minneapolis shooting, one injured critically

Officers responded to multiple fully automatic ShotSpotter activations in the 1700 block Girard Ave N in Minneapolis at 1AM on Sunday August 18th. While they were responding the fire it was reported there were gunshot victims in the 1400 block of Plymouth Ave N Minneapolis.

There they found two boys and two girls that have been struck by the gunfire. All four children were transported to Hennepin Hospital by EMS, three had apparent non-life-threatening injuries and one had apparent life-threatening injuries.

The ages of the four children were between 11 and 14 years old.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said that five juveniles were in a stolen Kia when a dark colored sedan pulled up behind them and began firing shots. The sedan left the area before officers arrived.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
