Fred Sowl, retired Deputy Chief of Police in Duluth, turns 90

Fred Sowl, had a surprise birthday party turning 90 years old surrounded by his friends and family. Sowl had spent over 30 years on the force as a Chief Inspector and Chief Deputy of Police.
The birthday surprise was at the AAD Shrine in Hermantown, other retired police officers also celebrated Sowl’s birthday. “It was a surprise to see so many and they’re all friends and relatives in just a real beautiful setting.” Sowl said.
One of the guests to Fred Sowl’s party was retired Chief Scott Lyons. “He’s one of the most honest and respectful persons you’ll ever meet. So for all the people that come out today, that honored his 90th birthday, that’s pretty cool.” Lyons said.
