New free training called Introduction to Human Services

A look at the new training being offered to help those who want to go into the human services and social work field.

There are many organizations in Duluth dedicated to supporting human services. And they need help hiring as well. That’s why CareerForce has partnered with several others to provide a new free training called Introduction to Human Services.

Elena Foshay, Director of Workforce Development, explained, “We partnered with Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, because they have a two-year human services degree program. We wanted to know what we could put together, so people could earn college credit towards a degree, and get the basic skills about how to be successful in human services.”

Some of the focus will be on case management, assessing clients needs, and professional ethics.

Funding for the program is coming from a DEED grant. So it is free for the participants.

Classes run September 23rd through December 5th, and will be the Duluth Adult Education building near city hall.
