From the saltie to the train, those long wind turbine blades are heading out
They sailed in on the Stevie on Sunday. And now, those massive wind turbine blades have been unloaded and are getting ready to leave for western Canada.
At 260 feet long, they are among the longest to ever arrive in the Twin Ports, according to the Duluth Seaway Port Authority.
And another fun fact, they are leaving via train, not truck, which is unusual. The blades are being placed on special cars that are long enough to hold them.
If you look closely, you’ll see that they have what looks like a serrated edge. That can help with noise and efficiency.
Wind cargoes first arrived in the Twin Ports in 2005.
