Packing up backpacks for the giveaway in Cloquet

The United Way of Carlton and Pine County is excited about the Backpacks and BBQ event on Monday.

Volunteers made quick work of packing up 100s of backpacks with school supplies in Cloquet on Thursday.

The United Way of Carlton and Pine County is getting ready for their 3rd Backpacks and BBQ event.

The BBQ is Monday from 4-6pm at the Cloquet Armory, 801 Highway 33 South.

250 people have pre-registered to pick up a backpack for their child. The only requirement is that they attend school in Carlton County.

There will also be extras if you come the day of.

Sarah Buhs, Executive Director of the United Way of Carlton and Pine County said, “This program is so needed. Many families are living paycheck to paycheck.”

Many businesses and groups donated to make this effort possible.
