Governor Walz announces the 148th shot down the object over Lake Huron

In a tweet Sunday night, Governor Walz broke the news that the Duluth-based 148th Fighter Wing were involved in the recent mission over Lake Huron.

I’m proud of the airmen in the @148FW, based out of Duluth, who earlier today took off from Madison, WI to shoot down a flying object over Lake Huron as part of a federal mission. The Bulldogs executed their mission flawlessly, protected the homeland, and got the birds home safe.

The 148th Fighter Wing were the airmen responsible for shooting down the “unidentified object” over Lake Huron.

In a tweet, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz praised the 148th by saying, “I’m proud of the airmen in the 148th, based out of Duluth, who earlier today took off from Madison, WI to shoot down a flying object over Lake Huron as part of a federal mission. The Bulldogs executed their mission flawlessly, protected the homeland, and got the birds home safe.”
