Grants available to help homeowners make repairs from 2022 disasters like flooding

There were plenty of people who suffered damage from flooding and storms in 2022.

Now, the USDA is making grants available under the Rural Disaster Home Repair Grant Program, thanks to funding from the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023.

You can apply for grants up to $40,675. But you do need to live within an eligible rural area, and within a Presidentially declared disaster area.

They may be used for:

  1. Home repair expenses that were a result of a Presidentially declared disaster in the calendar year 2022.
  2. Prepare a site for a manufactured home
  3. Relocate a manufactured home

Colleen Landkamer, USDA Rural Development Minnesota State Director, said, “We are excited to be able to help people out. An example of an eligible project would be if a home furnace is damaged in a flood.”
