Gunflint Mail Run postponed due to poor trail conditions
The recent rain has caused problems along the Gunflint Mail Run course, and the Board of Directors announced on New Year’s Day that they have postponed the race.
It had been scheduled for next Saturday the 11th.
The post from the Board says: “The Gunflint Mail Run board of directors has made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone this year’s race due to poor trail conditions. Last week’s rain took a toll on the race course and the current forecast holds little to no snow prior to January 11th. In order to pull off a safe and successful race we’d need to receive another foot of snow prior to race day and we’re not confident that will happen. So, we have opted to postpone the race until a later date, likely in February but yet to be finalized. Stay tuned to this page for further updates. Despite this unfortunate news, we are grateful for your support and enthusiasm and wish you all a happy, safe, and healthy New Year!“
Last year the race was canceled due to the lack of snow.
