One of many favorite stops people take to enjoy the summertime weather is Lake Nebagamon. While people love getting a chance to enjoy the lake, the warm hospitality of the town keeps bringing people back. One of the many small businesses looking to bring in more tourists, is Lawn Beach Inn. The restaurant recently reopened, after being closed for ten years.
Sarah Urbaniak, the current owner delved into the history of the building and also why it’s special to her. “This building, it’s been here since 1898. It was built as like a warehouse or logging camp. It was also a hotel called The Pines, and then in ‘68, my grandparents bought it and started as a restaurant.” Urbaniak said. “A lot of people who knew my grandparents and knew my dad really well or knows my dad really well. So we’ve had such support from the community, just people who were so excited for this place to be open again. I think there’s a lot of good memories everyone’s had here over the years and we’re happy to recreate more.”
Similar to other local businesses in the area, Urbaniak felt like it was her turn to step up and run the restaurant. “Like with any new business, I hope people have patience with us. We’re getting into the groove and you know, we’re trying to make the small community a destination. We have other great local businesses that have been working hard with live music and stuff for the summer. So we’re just we’re just trying to amp up the town and have a good time.” Urbaniak said. “We’ve had such support from the community, just people who were so excited for this place to be open again. I think there’s a lot of good memories everyone’s had here over the years and we’re happy to recreate more.”
Pete “Pistol Pete” Whitt, the Lake Nebagamon Village Marshall said he remembers Lawn Beach Inn before it closed ten years ago. It is a wonderful restaurant, we used to go in there quite frequently. It was a beautiful, beautiful place to go eat and sitting on a deck and enjoying a meal overlooking the lake. You can’t ask for a better city. It’s fantastic. And I hear that the food is great.” Whitt said.
Nolan Graff, a resident in Lake Nebagamon also talked about how he is looking forward to bringing his family to Lawn Beach. “You’ve got a lot of people out on the lake, water skiing, tubing, swimming. 4th of July is right around the corner. And, you know, it seems the closer we get, the more and more people come out. Come check out Lake Development, come check out Lawn Beach. There’s a lot of really, really good people out here and I hope you enjoy your time.” Graff said.
Lawn Beach Inn also is collaborating with 3 Sheep Brewing Company to sell a Lake Nebagamon Pilsner beer. It’s part of 3 Sheep Brewing’s Explore Wisconsin series, but Lawn Beach Inn is the only place where it sells the Lake Nebagamon Pilsner beer.
