The Duluth East marching band is headed to Disney World in November. They’ll be performing at the parade, and then participating in workshops.
“This is the first trip the band has been able to go on for awhile, due to COVID. This is a big thing for the band to be able to travel again. I’m very excited,” Signe Mead told us. She’s a tenor sax and bassoon player.
“I’m excited to try everything. From marching and playing. We’ll be able to explore the area, try food and rides, and meet new people,” Girvin Canete told us. He plays the saxophone.
To help with the costs, there is a golf scramble and silent auction coming up.
It’s Saturday, August 12th, at the Pike Lake Golf and Beach Club.
Sign up teams of 4! It’s $50 a person.
They are also looking for tee sponsors. Please sign up by July 31st for that.
Barrett Loof, a bass trombone player, said, “Supporting the band would be great, we love what we do, and we love music.”
Fellow band member Chris Hoban added, “We need help. Not everybody in band can afford the payment to get on this trip. We care about everyone in the band and want everyone to go.”
