Man in custody after two found dead in Babbitt
An update from Babbitt police on Monday morning about a double homicide.
Duluth Police let them know that a person had stated he had killed his two roommates. This came in around 11:30pm on Saturday night.
Officers in Babbitt responded to 38 Fir Circle, and discovered two people were dead.
They’ve been identified as Clifford Johnson, 78, and Christine Johnson, 79. Both are from Babbitt.
A 54-year-old suspect has been booked into the St. Louis County Jail. Police said he had been temporarily been staying with the victims.
Investigators believe he acted alone, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The statement from police added, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this tragic time.”
The BCA, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ely and Duluth police departments assisted.
Charges are pending.
