Inmate found dead at St. Louis County Jail

Update: The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office identified the inmate who was found dead. The man has been identified as Dustin Paul Eggert. The cause of death is still under investigation.On August 10th, an inmate at the St. Louis County jail was found deceased. The inmate was a 34-year-old male who was alone in his cell. Immediately upon locating him Thursday morning, St. Louis County Jail staff-initiated lifesaving efforts and performed CPR. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene after The Mayo Ambulance and Duluth Fire Department responded to the jail.Officials say there were no altercations, and no obvious cause of death was noted at the scene. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, BCA, to investigate the cause of death. Currently, the cause of death is pending autopsy, toxicology results and the results of the BCA investigation.
