Investigation underway after an inmate dies at prison in Moose Lake

WDIO News is continuing the coverage of the Moose Lake Correctional Facility investigation with the death of the inmate. According to Warden Kristin Rish, the correctional officers and medical staff responded to the inmate’s cell in under two minutes. The continued performing life-saving measures until ambulance services arrived.
A 39-year-old man died at the prison in Moose Lake on Tuesday.
The Department of Corrections sent out a statement, saying that another inmate reported that a cellmate appeared to be unresponsive. This was around 10:30am.
Staff responded and performed life-saving measures, without success, per the statement.
The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will be performing an autopsy.
Now the MN DOC’s Office of Special Investigations is investigating.
