Jen Schultz launches campaign for Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District
Jen Schultz, DFL, launched her campaign for Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District on Tuesday afternoon.
“I will work to grow our economy by growing the middle class and safeguarding retirement security,” said Schultz during her announcement. “I will protect access to women’s healthcare and fight like heck to preserve our democracy. I have a long track record of achieving results by working across the aisle and rolling up my sleeves to get the job done. I’ll work tirelessly with Republicans, Democrats, and anybody interested in building a better future for everyone in the 8th district.”
Schultz also mentioned Republican Rep. Peter Stauber who currently represents the 8th Congressional District.
“At a time when families are struggling and international tensions are flaring, Pete Stauber and his Republican colleagues have led the least productive Congress in modern history,” said Schultz. “Instead of bringing people together on behalf of all Americans, Pete Stauber has embraced the D.C. circus, kissing the ring of Donald Trump even as he faces over 90 felony charges across multiple criminal cases. Minnesotans deserve a representative who will work to improve our lives, and that’s why I’m running for Congress.”
WDIO reached out to Stauber’s office regarding Schultz announcement and is awaiting a statement.
Schultz currently teaches at UMD and previously served in the State Legislature for eight years.
