Justin Liles: A touch of snow & rain before big warm up

A wintry mix started this morning and will continue to transition over to snow through midday Thursday. We are still going to see some rainfall, won’t be too much, as there will be a chance for some localized areas to see a little more than a tenth of an inch tonight.

Rain along with snow will create some lower visibilities due to some fog. Some of this fog may freeze and make areas south of the Twin Ports slick Thursday morning. There will be some accumulating snowfall possible north of Hwy 2 on the Minnesota side. Anywhere north of this line could see up to 2” of fresh snow that could make the Thursday AM commute slick. Heavier amounts will likely be closer to the International Border. South of Hwy 2, a light coating of freezing rain is possible in east central Minnesota, the Northshore, and northern Wisconsin.

A warming trend returns Friday and lasts into the weekend to produce high temperatures in the 50s and 60s with ample sunshine Friday. A few more clouds are expected on Saturday and it will be a little breezy. There is a chance of light rain on Sunday.
