July 11th: Hottest temperatures of the year!

Hottest temperatures of the year!

Temperatures and humidity continue to increase through the weekend. Dangerous heat in the upper 80s to low 90s are possible along with tropical type humidity. Heat indices will be well into the 90s with 100s toward Minneapolis. There will also be potential for strong to severe storms on Saturday and Sunday. The severe thunderstorm potential will hinge on whether thunderstorms can break through the warmer air higher up in the atmosphere known as the cap.

If they do, damaging wind gusts and large hail would be the main hazards. Beginning Saturday evening there will a severe storm potential to develop over northeast Minnesota and will move southeast. By Sunday afternoon and evening there is a threat of strong storms in out southern viewing area wind damage will be the big threat with this one.
