March 5th: Sunshine through the weekend

Sunshine through the weekend

It’s been a while since the Northland has had a winter storm. Granted it mostly affected northern Wisconsin, the U.P. of Michigan, and all the way down to southern Minnesota. Many parts of the Twin Cities had over 8” or more of snow. In our region most of the heavier snow fell along the snowbelt from the Bayfield Peninsula to Ironwood, MI.

Snow will continue to end from west to east this afternoon and evening with decreasing cloud cover. Our gusty northern winds will weaken a little tonight but not much. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow for a lower wind, even though it will still be breezy. Quiet conditions arrive for the latter half of the week into the weekend. There is a small chance for light snow on Saturday but little to no accumulations is expected. Temperatures become warm this weekend, with high temps reaching the 40s to low 50s by Sunday and Monday.
