Justin Liles: Rinse and Repeat through the weekend

Our weather pattern is on the rinse and repeat cycle. We have seen the same set up over the last several days and will likely see no changes heading into the weekend. Unseasonable warm air is present due to a surface high that has settle right over our region. We continue to see cooler conditions by the lake as the lake is creating its own wind. Temperatures differences will continue to be nearly 20°-30° through the weekend from near Lake Superior or farther inland. Most of the week temperatures have climbed into upper 80s to lower 90s and there doesn’t appear to be any let up in sight. It’s also warmed so much inland that late afternoon to early evening showers have blossomed all week. More of the same is expected over the weekend. Duluth hit a high of 86° on top of the hill on Wednesday. There is a good chance we get close to that this weekend, especially Sunday.
The change to our weather pattern will come on Monday when a cold front passes through. This will bring in cooler air and bring in the much drier air. As it passes some stronger thunderstorms may develop. The drier air moving in will likely increase our fire dangers around the Northland through the middle to end of next week.
