Justin Liles: Significant rain coming!
Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected with a warm front to our south will shift northward across the Northland a little later this evening through tonight. These storms may produce hail up to an inch and would be the primary threat during this evening and tonight for north-central Minnesota. This would include Iron Range to the International Border. Heavy rain could lead to some localized flooding in these areas through Tuesday. A Flood watch has been issued until 7am Wednesday.
We may get a little break Tuesday before scattered showers and thunderstorms develop along and ahead of an eastward moving cold front Tuesday afternoon and evening. This will be the better potential for severe weather, with damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and large hail as the main threats. Total additional rainfall amounts through Tuesday will generally be around 1-2 inches, with some localized pockets up to 3 inches or more, the highest potential of which will be in northern Minnesota.
