Justin Liles: Smokey air returns tonight

Heading into this evening there is a great chance of seeing some haze and smoky conditions returning due to wildfires in Canada. Smokey conditions look to linger well into Wednesday too. A cold front that is starved of moisture will slide southward out of Canada pulling the poorer air quality in behind it. An air quality alert may get issued heading into Wednesday as well.
We look to be done with all the wildfire smoke by Thursday. This is great news as we head into race weekend. Showers heading into the William A Irvin are now showing signs of stay farther west toward the Brainerd Lakes area and Iron Range. Shower activity for Grandmas Marathon looks to hold off until the afternoon hours. This may lead to a wetter evening for Grandma’s Marathon tent celebrations.
