Justin Liles: Snow along the south shore tonight and then much colder everywhere
We are off and running a New Year and we didn’t start off to great. We’re already experiencing some cancellations and postponements to some beloved Northland events. The Gunflint Mail Run is cancelled, and the Beargrease is postponed until March. We just can’t get any snow. Tonight, some snow is possible for the U.P. of Michigan. Ironwood to Bessemer could see 3-6” of snow. There is a Winter Weather Advisory issued until 6am Friday for these areas.
Temperatures will be much colder through the weekend as daytime highs drop into the single digits and overnight lows drop below zero. Winds are also set to increase beginning tonight and lasting through the weekend. Wind Chills are going to drop into the -20° to -30° range. Make sure to bring the pets indoors. We are going to see sunshine but a cold sunshine. Temperatures warm a little Monday but overall daytime highs will remain in the single digits.
