Justin Liles: Something interesting begins tonight
A strong low-pressure system is set to move across our region bringing widespread rain and windy conditions. The strongest wind gusts near 50 mph are expected along the lakeshore areas near Lake Superior from the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday morning through early Tuesday afternoon. We are under a Wind Advisory until 4 pm Tuesday afternoon. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. These winds will coincide with a forecast 2 to 3 inches of rainfall for the high terrain ridge of the North Shore and along the lakeshore. Elsewhere light to moderate rainfall spreads in tonight through tomorrow with totals varying between 0.5 to 1.5 inches.
This system is set to slow down and slowly migrate eastward. Snow up to 1 inch is possible Wednesday-Thursday, with 1-2 inches expected in northern WI’s Gogebic Range. Now, the slow progress of this storm may delay the departure, and we could end up with more snow too. We will continue to watch the progress over the next 24-48 hours.
