July 31: Thunderstorms tonight

As a cold front passes through the region, showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight.

Hot temperatures continue this afternoon. Showers and storms will spread northeastward with time this afternoon and evening. A few storms may be severe with damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall. Winds will be gusty and erratic near storms. Winds outside of thunderstorms will be from the southwest to southeast around 5 to 10 mph with a few gusts up to 12 mph possible. Thursday will trend a few degrees cooler with relatively light winds. There will be another chance of showers and storms in the afternoon and evening.

It will be hot again Friday. Highs Friday will likely see many areas surging close to 90°F. Once it again it will be humid too. Heat indices could reach close to 100°F or more. There is another chance of some thunderstorms late Saturday.
