Justin Liles: Temperatures increase this week only to free fall beginning this weekend

Light flurries are possible around the Northland until early this evening. Look for snow showers continue through the evening for the U.P. of Michigan. There is a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for this region until 6am Tuesday morning. Winds will continue to be a bit blustery throughout the evening and it will feel like -20° to -30°.

High pressure is to build in from the west and cold air will hang around tonight. Another round of Cold Weather Advisories may be needed, but temperatures may not be cold enough as winds won’t be quite as strong as this morning. This area of high pressure will bring drier conditions to the Northland through Wednesday before a cold front moves in Wednesday night.

Some more light snow moves in with a clipper along the International Border Friday into Saturday. Starting Sunday, we look ahead into the second half of January, below normal temperatures are expected to return with daytime highs below zero. Dangers wind chills will return too.
