Justin Liles: Warming with periods of light snow

December 5th: Warmer air on the way

Warmer air on the way

It sure was good to see the sunshine today. It was enough sun to melt a bit of snow on the roads and sidewalks. Several clipper systems will bring periods of light snow to the Northland late tonight through this weekend. Chances for light snow returns tonight with a weak low-pressure system, mainly in the Arrowhead and the snowbelt near the U.P. of Michigan. This low will be followed closely by a second, which will increase winds out of the southwest. The west-southwest winds will likely stay with us through the weekend and allow temperatures to warm up into the 30s. It will be a touch breezy but at least we can get out and enjoy the outdoors this weekend. A larger system will move through the area Sunday evening into Monday, and mixed precipitation is expected Sunday evening before switching to all snow Monday.
