February 1st: Snowfall Today

Snowfall Today

Snowfall is expected to begin late this morning around the Northland. The most intense snow will occur from this afternoon into tonight. Gusty southeast winds combined with the snow will lead to poor road conditions and visibility this afternoon and evening. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Heavy snow with total accumulations between 5 and 8 inches are possible. A few spots could pick up as much as 10 inches in the higher terrain of the North Shore. This will be a wet heavy snow so you may want to take a few cracks at shoveling and snow blowing instead of waiting until the end.

The snow will likely weaken for a period Sunday morning, but snowfall will pick up again on Sunday afternoon. There’s a chance of light freezing drizzle Sunday morning and afternoon. Light snow will continue into late Sunday evening and will end early Monday morning. Temperatures will become much colder next week.
